We aim at using solid wood from local sources and materials which comply with mankind and nature.

Joseph Barotte

Born in Strasbourg in 1984.
Introduced to woodwork in New-Zealand, he then achieved a Diploma in carpentry after training at the « Compagnons du Devoir » in Strasbourg.
Always looking for new techniques and approaches, he spent two years in Switzerland developing his skills, before coming back to Alsace.

Our trademark being the use of solid wood , Atelier Lignum will carry out all your projects :  storage and shelves, kitchen, furniture, doors, frames, special creations….
By principle we only use natural oil and varnish for the finishing, which highlights the  natural colors of the wood.
Depending on the nature of the project, we are keen to incorporate other materials such as metal, glass or stone, alongside wood.
The natural essences that we commonly use are oak, ash, maple or cherry wood.

Atelier Lignum will undertake all types of house-frames, outdoor deckings, staircases, roofing and insulation work.
When working we endeavour to follow traditional assembling methods of carpentry. We also make sure that we use weather-proof and insect-resistant local essences, such as  larch, douglas or black locust. Equally,  it is essential to us to use wood-based or plant-based insulation materials.
